The City of Sallisaw operates under a charter as authorized by the Oklahoma Municipal Code.  This charter provides for a City Manager who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the City.  The City Manager also serves as the General Manager of the Sallisaw Municipal Authority.

City Manager's Office:  Bill J. Baker was appointed as Sallisaw's City Manager in December 2003.  Mr. Baker has over 29 years of service in local government.  He previously served as City Manager for the City of Lawton, Oklahoma. Prior to that he served as Assistant City Manager, Environmental Services Director, Public Works Director, Asst. Public Works Director and Personnel Director. He received his bachelor of science degree from Cameron University and Masters of Arts in Human Relations and Masters of Arts (MPA) in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army Reserves

Personnel/Administrative Services: The personnel department coordinates all activities involving city employees.  Applications for city positions are only given out when the positions are open.  All positions are advertised in the Sequoyah County Times. Open positions will also be posted on the Sallisaw Informational Portal.
