Due to COVID concerns in the Sallisaw and Sequoyah County areas, the City of Sallisaw, Sallisaw Police Department and the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce have decided to not have Halloween on Elm this year.
Parents may still take their children trick-or-treating on October 31 but are urged to follow established guidelines published by the CDC.
To help families celebrate safely, the City of Sallisaw is providing these guidelines for trick-or-treaters and reminding families of the importance of following public health guidelines to protect themselves and the health of others.
Guidelines for trick-or-treaters include:
Households that wish to provide goodie bags, please do so in a designated location for the trick-or-treaters to pick up. Residents are requested to not place candy in communal bowls. Households who wish not to participate are encouraged to turn off their porch lights or place a sign on their property to discourage unwanted visitors. If you have COVID or you have been exposed to someone with COVID, please do not participate in giving out treats.
