What can you do during an electrical outage?
- Follow the directions of state and local emergency management officials. Every emergency is different and the best source of information is the officials directly involved with the situation in your location.
- Charge mobile devices. While you have power, charge your cell phones, laptops and backup battery packs so they have full battery life in case of a prolonged outage.
- Turn off all lights and appliances in your home. This will help prevent overloaded circuits and damage when power is restored.
- Communicate. Let us know your power is off, especially if you have a medical condition.

- Stay Clear. For your safety and the safety of our work crews, stay clear of crews working on electric lines. Allow them to work in a safe manner.
- Safely use portable generators. If you have a portable generator connected to your home, please have it connected by a licensed electrician. Generators not properly installed directly into a home or business can cause back feed in the electric lines and cause safety issues for our work crews.
- Check the City of Sallisaw web page and other social media sites for outage information. The City will also make this information available to local media outlets.
